Tips for preparing an effective resume
Here are a few tips to improve your resume so that we can review your profile carefully;
- Your resume should be clear, readable and concise. Be sure not to clutter up the main sections of your resume by leaving spaces or using bullet points. Avoid using abbreviations that will not be recognized by the recruiter and redundancies. Write in short sentences and use the active voice.
- The main section headings could be: civil status, the pitch, professional experience, education and specific IT and language skills, and, finally, main interests.
- The pitch: this summarizes your professional plans or objective (what you can bring to the company).
- Organize your resume carefully: use reverse chronology (list most recent experience first). Classify and rank your achievements by order of importance.
- Back up your experience with numbers, facts and results you have achieved: financial results, sales results, time-savings in a process, number of cases handled, number of people managed, number of people you assisted, etc.
- Personalize your resume and adapt it to the targeted position. For example, if we are looking for a candidate with management skills, include your management experience in the pitch of your resume.
- Your resume should be error-free. Have people you know proofread it.
Your resume has been selected. The following are some tips to help you prepare for your interviews.
- Prepare for your interview; this is not the time to improvise.
- Learn about our business segments, company, business lines, etc. (Our website contains a wealth of information).
- If you received a job interview by answering an ad: study the ad carefully to understand the company’s needs and objectives and, most importantly, your own strengths for the position. Come to the interview with a well-defined career plan.
- If you submitted an unsolicited job application, re-read your letter to be able to highlight your motivations and value-adding capabilities.
- During the interview, highlight your achievements and skills by illustrating them with some concrete examples. Be attentive to what the recruiter is saying, act natural and be curious. Ask your interviewer questions, since they demonstrate your interest in the company and the job.
- At the end of the interview, be clear about the next step in the process and remember to thank the interviewer.
