Buy-in buy-out of small-and medium-size businesses (SMBs): the keys taking over

Groupe BPCE organized a conference on buy-in buy-outs on Thursday March 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Eurosites George V – Paris. The conference will be hosted by Patrick Lelong, journalist and columnist on the France Info radio station.

The conference was organized as a result of the BPCE survey on the buy-in and buy-out of French SMBs published in December 2011.

A survey on buy-in and buy-outs

The conference will begin with a presentation of the BPCE survey called L’Observatoire on SMB buy-in and buy-outs by Alain Tourdjman, one of the authors, who is Head of Economic Research and Prospective at BPCE. He will mention the major topics of the survey: anatomy of buy-ins and buy-outs, owner intention and motivation for the buy-in or buy-out, the effect of the owners age on the strategies used to sell the business.

Round tables on take overs

To expand the topic, two round tables are organized with entrepreneurs, experts and economists:

  • Does France have enough entrepreneurs?

The themes discussed will cover the consequences on the French economy, the potential difficulties, how to prepare a generation to take over SMBs?, the present and future role of investors.
Based on our expertise in this area, Dominique Sabassier, Head of the Private Equity business in Natixis’ Investment Solutions’ division, will shed some light on this topic.

  • Selling your business: the keys for success

This round table will help entrepreneurs who wish to sell their business. The discussions will cover the preparation upstream, specifically what to do to get the best value for one’s business. Other topics will be professional and personal wealth and the most common types of financing for the buy-out or buy-in.
Pascal Prévot, Head of Wealth Engineering at Banque Privée 1818 part of Investment Solutions will cover the questions of wealth.

Both round tables will present videos with testimonies from entrepreneurs.
