Natixis makes a firm commitment to stop financing the coal industry

Natixis has published its CSR sector policy as applied to the coal industry. In so doing, it confirmed its decision, announced last October, to no longer participate in financing the coal industry.

This policy to no longer finance coal-fired power plants or thermal coal mines, nor to provide corporate financing to companies whose business relies mainly on these sectors, applies to all financing activities, worldwide. It is also implemented in Natixis Asset Management and Natixis Assurances investment policies.

For Laurent Mignon, Natixis’ Chief Executive Officer, “Financial institutions have a crucial role to play in energy transition. By deciding to halt coal industry financing, and by actively supporting the development of renewable energies and energy-efficient projects, Natixis has made an ambitious commitment to preserving the environment.”
