Natixis Payment Solutions is testing out SmartPOS, a next-generation payment terminal designed for all commercial players that combines the functional flair of a tablet and the solidity of an electronic payment terminal.

Besides the payment function, SmartPOS includes apps that allow monitoring the independent merchants’ and branded stores’ activity and facilitate clients’ omnichannel buying process. This simple-to-use solution is adapted to all types of activity, whether sedentary or nomadic.

The basic apps–payment, smart till, customer satisfaction levels and split bill–will be tested over the next four months.

In collaboration with eight Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne banks, around one hundred independent merchants and national or international stores are taking part in this trial run, which is a first in France.
